Sometime in the early mid-century there was an explosion of mascots created for colleges and universities. Much of the work done is credited to the head artist of Angelus Pacific, Arthur Evans. He is allegedly responsible for the creation of close to 90% of the collegiate mascot artwork during his time with Angelus Pacific. There are several examples of the artwork that Angelus Pacific created, but my favorite are the ones depicting multiple mascots within the same graphic. The mascot lineups are the primary graphics used on the felt banners produced by both Collegiate MFG and Chicago Pennant Company.
Although Collegiate MFG has a well documented partnership with Angelus Pacific, Chicago Pennant Company was still able to use their artwork. In most cases, Chipenco seemed to use exclusive artwork both on pennants and banners, but there are some graphics that seemed to be non-exclusive; the Yale banner being a prime example. This exact graphic was placed on felt banners produced by both Collegiate MFG and Chicago Pennant Company.
Below is a collection of images I have come across that show some of the multiple mascot artwork that was designed. Many of these I have seen on the felt banners, but several remain unique.
